Questions

How do I tune my guitar with it?

Choose Guitar, press Start and allow the microphone. Play one open string at a time: the tuner finds the closest string on its own. Turn the tuning peg until the needle sits in the center and turns green. If you are far off, tap the string you are tuning so it only listens for that note.

How is the Venezuelan cuatro tuned?

From the fourth string to the first: A, D, F♯ and B (La, Re, Fa♯ and Si). The first string, B, sounds lower than the third, F♯, because the cuatro uses a re-entrant tuning. Choose Cuatro and tap each string to hear it.

What is the A4 reference for?

It sets the pitch of the A above middle C, which the rest of the notes follow. The standard is 440 Hz. Change it to match a piano, a recording or a band that tunes a little higher or lower, or to try 432 Hz.

Why does it ask for the microphone?

It needs to hear your instrument. The sound is analyzed on your device and is never recorded or sent anywhere. It stops listening when you press Stop or switch tabs.
